Vehicular Traffic Impacts: US Route 2 at the drawbridge is open to two-lane two-way traffic. Occasional lane closures along US Route 2 will continue through next week. The contractor will be working from 6:30 AM through 5:00 PM, Monday through Saturday. There may be some days when work extends beyond 5:00 PM given the nature of the work. The contractor will not be working this Sunday. Please expect occasional lane closures and delays during daytime hours. The work zone speed limit is enforced, and individuals have been ticketed for excessive speeding. Obeying the speed limit is extremely important for everyone’s safety.
Notice to Mariners: The navigation channel through the bridge will be closed to all vessel traffic from December 5, 2018 through April 30, 2019. The full notice is here on the project website.
Planned Construction Activities: On the east approach, the contractor is installing guardrail on the Acrow bridge backspan and installing electrical equipment for operating the bridge. On the west approach, the contractor is assembling the Acrow bascule (movable) span which is scheduled to be installed in place, over the channel, this Saturday. This will limit the vertical clearance in the channel to elevation 113 feet until May 15th. The picture below shows the Acrow backspan with machinery and part of the pulley system installed for opening the bascule span:

Please SLOW DOWN and obey the speed limits within the work zone. The work zone speed limit is enforced, and individuals have been ticketed for excessive speeding. Obeying the speed limit is extremely important for everyone’s safety.
