North Hero-Grand Isle Drawbridge Construction Update – 11/14/2018

Vehicular Traffic Impacts: US Route 2 at the drawbridge is open to two-lane two-way traffic. There are flaggers onsite to assist with construction trucks entering and exiting the work zone. The contractor plans to work 8.5-hour* days, Mondays thru Saturdays, during daylight hours.

 

Planned Construction Activities: The contractor is continuing to construct the temporary bridge on both the west and east approaches, concurrently. The crews have been welding ice mitigation measures at the high water level of the bridge, and they have continued installing rock anchors over the past week. Through next week the contractor will continue working on the fifth piers on both the east and west approaches. The picture below shows construction progress at the western approach trestle:

Please SLOW DOWN and obey the speed limits within the work zone. The work zone speed limit is enforced, and individuals have been ticketed for excessive speeding. Obeying the speed limit is extremely important for everyone’s safety.
