INTERIM REPAIR WORK FOR EXISTING DRAWBRIDGE – SPRING 2016

The Vermont Agency of Transportation has contracted Cianbro Corporation to complete repairs of the operating system for the drawbridge on US Route 2 connecting North Hero and Grand Isle, VT.  Cianbro corporation has been working on these repairs over the past winter / spring so that the service life of the drawbridge can be extended until it is replaced. They began testing the emergency operating system on 5/11/16 at 9 AM and will need to continue through 5/12/16 until 5 PM.  The emergency operating system is a backup system designed to operate the opening and closing of the bridge in case of a failure of the motors that normally operate the bridge or in case of power failure.  Two large generators will act as the power source.  It will take approximately 10-15 minutes to raise the leaf(s) and about 10-15 minutes to close.  Please plan for 20-30 minute delays.
